International Olympiad of Science (iOS) Class 7: syllabus, dates and exam pattern (2026–27)

This is the shortest syllabus list on any of our exam pages, and that is the finding, not an omission. SilverZone's published Class 7 science list maps onto only eight of the twelve chapters in the new Curiosity book — it does not name metals and non-metals, adolescence, Earth-Moon-and-Sun, or the opening chapter on how science evolves. But it does name three chapters that are not in the 2026-27 book at all: reproduction in plants, the wastewater story, and forests. All three were Class 7 chapters in the previous NCERT, all three still sit in olympiad question banks, and none of them will be taught in your child's classroom this year. That is roughly one section's worth of marks — Natural Resources alone is 5 marks — that school study cannot reach. Worth being straight about the other half of that: unlike the maths paper above, where the missing topics reappear as Class 8 chapters, these three have left the 2026-27 spine entirely, and they are not in our own Class 7 science practice today either. They have to come from the body's own past papers. Separately, the Reasoning and Aptitude section (7 questions, 21 marks) is a distinct spine and is not drawn from the science chapters.
